Fuel Consumption Reduction and Efficiency Improvement in Urban Street Sweeper Using Power Split with Lockup Clutch Transmission

The aim of this work is to design a power split transmission for an urban street sweeper in order reduce fuel consumption. process starts with the comparison between hydrostatic and hydromechanical transmission. Both transmissions have been tested through acceleration test considering 30, 50, 70 100 percent rated engine power. results both models developed Simcenter AmesimTM environment show that presents higher efficiency, which justifies adoption type respect system. Then, pure mechanical gear added base concept managed by lockup clutch, can be engaged during working phase sweeper, similar adaptive cruise control. In case, are regulated cycle, UNI-EN 151429-2, highlighting advantage using branch. At end, driving cycle acquired experimental setup consisting control unit, GPS tablet monitoring speed profile. clutch allows increase system efficiency phase, hence reducing average consumption mission test.
